Right just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, got out the car earlier and found a big puddle of power steering fluid under it! it has all leaked out of the drivers side through a split rubber gator what do i need to do to fix it?
In fairness the steering dosent seem any heavier than when i got the car so i can only assume its been shagged all along!
is this a right pain to fix?

In honesty, the best thing would be to fit a good second hand rack....

i was hoping to avoid that to be honest, going on the basis that it dosent really feel any worse im going to asume it has been shagged for the last month ive been driving the car!
Apart from the obvious fact that im driving with heavy steering is there any danger of it locking solid or any shit if i keep driving like this?

I removed the power steering belt and am now planning regular arm strecthing before driving to try and prevent pulling a muscle!

You can run with the belt off.
The fluid didn't leak out because of a failed gaiter - there shouldn't have been any fluid in there. It's a seal that has failed, further into the rack.
A potential problem, if you run with the same rack and no assistance, is that the leaking fluid may have washed the grease out of the inner tie rod joint.
