Hello people, just done around 1000k miles in my rebuilt engine & was wanting to change the engine oil. Just wondering what you think the best oil would be.

Many thanks, Jo.

No just the one i'v always used. and it's still comes in a metal can.

everyone likes a different brand. as long as it's not a cheap recycled one then it's ok.

Pm Oilman or go to his website for recommendation www.opieoils.co.uk

Not too sure what's in there at the moment as the BMW specialist changed it in the service a while ago (Inspection II). Think it might be semi synth (20w 50) but not 100%.

semi synth or synth are to loose for these motors unless you have a big turbo on it and do regular rebuilds.. In which case i can supply you with some torco fully synth at £65 a liter.

Zaust, my car is N/A & intend to keep it that way. All i have done is put a 288/288 Schrick high lift cam with high performance valve springs, BTB 6 branch manifold, Full Scorpion exhaust (came with the car). Looking to do more to it but slowly, but keep it N/A. Next step is a visit to Powerflow for my exhaust & get it all remapped!

Many thanks, Jo.

If it's done 1000K since the rebuild that must have been some time ago, and it's surely due for another rebuild now!
Decent synthetic is want you want. See oilman's thread.

Brian....the rebuild was 1000 miles ago. Sorry for the confusion fella!

Anyway, i was advised to do an oil change after 1000 miles or so. The time has now come & need to change the oil. I have an email from oilman & he has recommended Silkolene Pro S 5w-40.

Many thanks for your help people.

Jo.
