This question is implemented in another thread in forced induction..some of you dont look there so il ask here too (sorry mods)

IS there an easy way to change these O-rings? items 9-11:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=11&fg=10

I gota leak there and this looks like where its coming from..

This is a right PITA to get inplace if you ever take the intake maifold off..holding that damm pipe down which is compressed without kncking the o-ring and washer out the way whilst doing it AND then try and put the maifold back in place while doing the above is just rediculous..took me pissing ages and even then i obviouly didnt get it right..i gota check to make sure its the O-ring at the bottom of the pipe and not the top section the goes into the maifold which would be easier..

Anyone got any ideas or tips cuz i got a nasty feeling i gunna have to take that POS manifold off just to get that o-ring in place

AHHHhh

Tie the spring fully compressed with a couple of pieces of fishing line or thin cable ties.

I found recently that mig welding wire worked perfectly to tie the spring compressed on two opposing sides in a vice. Then fit the bits on the engine including the manifold and then lube the o rings with silicone spray and lastly cut the wires to tension the spring in place.
Works a treat.

Don't just cut the wires and let it snap up though. Hold it with your hand.

Thks peeps.. il get on this when i got a bit of time.. have a look today but im hoping i can just undew the manifold screws and lift it off the studs enough for me to work with 'without' taking much stuff off/apart, even that though is a pig job..

What purpose does that pipe have anyway?

That wasnt too bad..had to disconnect some conectors, nothing much..found out it was the top O-ring that had fallen out at the last min when i put it together last time..oil was obvioulsy trailing down the pipe where i couldnt see it which made me think it was the bottom one porked..

anyway..all of and waiting for my new O-rings tomoz from the stealers

BTW will GSF carry these or are they stealer jobs.gunna get the washer new too
