my wifes E34 525i sport has a flat battery. not bad i thought until i tried to unlock it. the alarm wont work and when i try the key in the door locks, there is a quiet thud from the central locking but not enough to unlock anything. the door pins won't lift when i do this.

i can unlock the boot though.

i reckon if i can get power onto it, then i'll be alright but i can't get under the bonnet or to the battery (under the rear seat).

any ideas? is there any permanent positive wires in the boot that i can feed, just to get the doors open?

bricks though the window etc would work but i'd like to try a better and neater solution first! :D

Driver's door lock should work anyway, especialy if you lift the handle while turning the key.

cheers for the help chaps!

i just managed to get in by fiddling with the passenger lock position while also fiddling with the door handle. it nearly did it on the drivers side too but not quite.

oh, brian, i know it was a bit cheeky but i thought it would be almost the same on the E34 as the E30 and i'm not on any E34 forums, also we're selling it so it's a silly time to join one! cheers anyway though... :thumb: won't do it again! :D

oh, incidentally, how would the number plate light power it up? does it have a permanent positive feed to it? may be handy to know for the future.
