First took my M50 conversion out on the road yesterday in the soaring heat and as soon as the engine had warmed up the fan kicked in on the slow speed, temp went over half way pretty soon so in comes the fan on high speed, while im driving around the temp stayed up and just refused to drop below half way.

Reading another thread got me thinking, I never checked the water pump while the engine was out to see if had the later type fitted so ive just been and pulled it out

Its the metal type, but to me those blades look much narrower than the diagram ive seen on realoem :?

Can anyone confirm this is how it should be?

The diagrams on realOEM and on the ETK are for identifying parts only, and often bear little resemblance to the part in real life.

Yes I did Steve, it wouldnt cause overheating though

Ive just fitted a new thermostat and parked it uphill ready to bleed in a bit

Still same problem, wont even cool down on the open road at 70+!

around town etc the fan is on high speed constant!

Has anyone used an M20 rad and expansion tank with this conversion?
Any thoughts/ideas welcomed

My M50's coupled up to the standard E30 325 rad and tank.

Removed the bonnet seal this morning and drove about for nearly 2 hours, its better on open road so im thinking I need to improve the airflow somehow, or just a bigger rad in general?

What similar rad could I use? Is it the E28 rad M30 converters use?
