Hi everyone,
There's a guy selling a 1993 320i e30 cab that I'm interested in. The ad was very non-descriptive, so I called him to ask him about it. He tells me that there are the following problems:
1. There's "bubbling" on the passenger rear wheel arch
2. The temperature gauge immediately maxes out when the ignition is turned - he says it's probably the temperature sensor that needs attention
3. When raining and the car is moving, water will seep in through the driver's side - he say a seal on the driver's side needs changing
4. Electric windows are "sticky" and intermittent
Other than that, he says it drives well, done only 72K, the paintwork and interior are in good nick, its a manual hood, it got 17" Motorsport alloys, and it's a manual transmission. He wants £2500 for it.
He's going to send me some photos via email tonight, I'll post up when I get them.
Could I get some expertise as to how bad those problems above are, and roughly how much it would cost to fix them?
Cheers
Ben

Just my opinion, but for £2.5k Id want all those bits sorted or at the very least the temp gauge and window problems sorted.
I am very picky though, so if I was spending that sort of money on a decent car it would have to be decent.

At the end of the day, if they were easy fixes, he would put them right to get more for the car.
it COULD be that the the temp sensor is knackered and the the window switches need the contacts cleaned up....but then again it might not be and cost a fortune to put right.
Then again this could be your bargaining ammo to bring him down a bit?!

temp guage is probably just the nut on the back of it that needs tightening.
Get him at least to do this so you can see if overheating or not.
Windows just need a clean on the motors and a grease.
The rest is a bit more worring though, how much is the bubbling? get pics
Also get pics of the sill and the floor, even better go and have a look.
Where is the water leaking to footwells? front or rear?
