I agree, even 15mm mtech drop rubs on some speed bumps round here, so 80mm would be impossable. Also it looks cr*p, no?!318-is wrote:-80mm is way to low on any car. its not just the tyres that will suffer. For instance the rear driveshafts will have to run at an extreme angle, one for which they were not designed for. Iv heard stories of some cars shafts even failing/dislodging when running extreme drops like this. All your geometry wil be thrown out the window also. As mentioned, speed bumps also become mountains, and your sump better be strong too.
dont do it!

My old 325i cab was dropped 80mm when I bought it. Apparently the guy who I bought it off had heated the springs!!!

my old sport on a 60/40 drop on cupkit springs but with very stiff shorter bilstein shocks

it was as low as the black sport already posted up easily.
the car was on it's arse, low as. Humps, kerbs, most drives all a slow scraping affair. Ride was pants. It's the centre box which catches everywhere, not the sump iin my experience
The rear wheels rubbed like a bitch under hard throttle, any more than me and a passegner was a no go really due to rubbing. Camber on the back was silly. Do it once love the ghetto, g-unit look get it out your system and be sensible again!
handled like a true hero chariot though was the only plus point i can think of! and it looked quite good imo

it all depends on what wheels u are running and their offset as to most rubbing issues. Mine rubbed on the back because they were 8 inches wide. Toplines aren't
panesar how long did your rear tyres last? about 50 miles was it?!

I love the low look of the 80mm and had it on my first e30.
Smashed the sump and another time i shattered the steering rack.
Used to graze on rear tyers like nobodys £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£

Bought a lowered Merc 190E from Charlton auction in S. London a while back. Looked the bollocks in black with a Zender bodykit and AMG alloys but it had a major problem with the (alloy) sump which kept grounding on speed humps which caused it to crack around the drain plug. The problem was so bad it left me stranded overnight once after it pissed out all the engine oil (had to sleep in the car) and had to keep repairing it with JB Weld every 5 minutes - replacement of the sump was an engine-out job. I got fed up with the problem and sold it after a while and the buyer managed to ground the sump during the test drive! Nightmare!!
Other lowered cars I've owned have been an '84 B-reg E30 320i 4-door (no real problems) and a 1970 Morris 1000 Traveller (resulted in very crashy ride, so I returned it to standard). Currently have an '88 325iSE with bog-standard suspension: still undecided whether to lower it or not. How many standard ride-height 325i's still exist nowadays?!! One major plus of standard is being able to change the engine oil without having to jack up the car

im on a 60/60 drop, no rubbing with 17inch alpina reps offset 20even with people in back, 2 subs and hardtop, the only downside for me is tyre wear.
im sure Panesars toplines are 8inch wide alround

I have 8x17's on mine with 15mm spacers, lowered 60 all round.
Would love it lower for looks but i think 60mm is verging on unpractical unless you like driving everywhere 5-10mph to save any damage on our glorious roads

No you need matching shorter, uprated shocks or come MOT time it'll fail as the springs can become unseated..Kemix wrote: oh ye...can you use 60mm springs with standard shocks?
