Well basicly after the engine conversion, there's loads of tiny little bits and pieces stopping me from driving it, one thing after a another, Hav'nt driven my car in a week or two now, as far as I conserned it's just a big paper weight using up valued space!

So to lift my spirt's I want to hear why you enjoy driving your e30, what you love most about your car, the best driving experence you've had in it etc etc...

Hopefully my faith will return once my engine mounts and rear spacer's turn up!

Thanks

I like the combination of it feeling solid, yet being actually very light. I like the handling, I like that feeling as you come out of a corner on the power and you feel the outside rear squat down ready to start coming out. I like the noise of the six pot, I like the feeling of reliability because despite the hard life my car has had and all the bits that are wrong/need fixing/are dropping off the damn thing still starts, runs, and handles like a thoroughbred.

I like the fact that the car has another 200k left in it if I keep looking after it, I like the way that I could drop it, MS it, boost it and turn it into a monster - or keep it stock and polish it and people would still be impressed. I like the fact that people say "ooh I had one of those" and then say that its like coming back home. I like the way it just looks like a nice car, not an old car or a new car. I like the way it says "I don't need you" to the fat 4x4s when I drive it over the grassy fields at outdoor concerts and point to points. I like the way it cost less to buy than most cars wheels but it works better. I like looking at it too, its a shape that just works!

How long have you got!

love the driving - I actively look for corners and good roundabouts. RWD rocks and I am glad not to have Jap (I think they're too complicated)

It looks good, I walk down my street and see so many rounded blobs with no interesting design. The e30 is a new classic, BMWs early peak in design and ability - i.e. I am not buying a massively old car but its driving down to me....NO ABS...NO traction control....NO stability control blah blah blah but I do have electric mirrors, windows, power steering.

Took my boss out for a spin and he loved it, when he described the hardish ride... "Its much better when you go fast, glides over the top of pot holes rather than falling in" made me smile!!

the thing i enjoy most is the fact i can leave most things standing at the traffic light grand prix in my 15 year old 'estate' , a quick blast never fails to raise a smile when ive had a bad day.engine conversions are usually grief but worth it in the end

I love the looks, the 'gangster' name the car has gained. The evil front end that means you never have to give way to other cars!

I enjoy leaving behind my mates in their done up punto's and polos thrashing the s*it out of thier cars while i pull away ahead.

Also the number of fit fit girls an E30 seems to attract. (more than before i owned it winkeye ).

And walking out into the sixth form car park, and seing that my car is so much bigger and meaner than the others, and the marks i have left everywhere

Oh, and the fact that the other day somebody had waited for hours by my car untill i walked out my house and asked if i wanted to sell it :P .

Where do i start!!

Mainly i love the respect i get from people in cars i could only dream of affording. Iv lost count of the number of people in ferrari's and the like that come over and compliment the car.

The one thing that put the biggest smile on my face was being able to hang on to a 360 round oulton park last year (yes, i know he wasnt pushing 100%). Im not an amazing driver, im young and still learning the car but it really gives you the confidence to push it hard.

Iv driven plenty of e36/e46's and none of them even come close to the buzz of driving the good old e30 :D

Felt like this a few times. But without the little bits going wrong once in while we would have nothing to talk about. I wonder what the e46 guys have to talk about? Dig deep mate, you'll be glad you did.

i love the way rear wheel drive cars handle, but with some of them, you have to be a little careful (im not extremely experienced you see!!)

So very true....I had my friend drive my e30 when I was driving my s13 and everytime looked in the rear view mirror and outside mirrors I get amazed on how it mean it looks for a car thats older than I am!!

Hell I even took a pic!!!

Not sure where to start.

Number one has gotta be value for money - spend 3 grand on a tidy cab with leather and you can't buy more class for your cash

On a similar note it looks more expensive than it is.

Other things I enjoy in no particular order:
Still feels solid despite its miles.
People looking round the car in car parks.
Very chuckable and so much feedback through steering wheel and arse.
Safe with a feeling of solidity - had 2 minor accidents in the old car and the other car came off decidedly worse.
Looks good standard.
No longer council - chavs have moved onto E36s.
A standard-looking example is admired by all.

That's all for the moment I think

I love the sound, the looks, the feel of the car on the road, the quality, the performance, the fact that theres not one on every street corner, the ability it's got to attract attentions of admiration, the offers to buy the car that come out of the blue and just the sheer buzz i can get from driving it. I think E30's have been touched by magic !

just love the 320, the first time i clamped my eyes on her i knew ''she was the one'' iv had her over a year now, clocked up 105,000 in her(98,000 when i bought her) she has never EVER failed to start nor has she ever let me down. what more can you ask of a car? she looks half her age, drives lovely, the box is tight, you can chuck her into corners, she goes well for a 2.0. she has a lovely note at 4,000 when i change gear. i never give her a hard time , whats the point? i believe that if you look after a car it will look after you back. and the 320 has done just that! got a couple of things i would like to get done before winter( full respray and a couple of parking dents removed and some new front shocks) might do the discs and pads aswell(mot tester said they were getting low) i do love the 320 but my hunt for more power continues.... so i have decided(this is final) to get my friend darren(bmw tech, lind, norwich) to drop a 325i engine in her, i belive she should have had one from the start!

This is my 4th E30 after a 320i 318iS and a 325 Sport after that i have owned some pretty exotic and quick machinery.
It was given to me by me mam but when she owned it and brought it to our house i would give it a wash and the occasional wax and take it for a spin.
Love the feeling of solidness, lightness and general feedback and as somebody else said looks good from every angle,i also like the fact that they are becoming quite rare and the comments people make about it.

Our local BMW specilist/fanatic (ex dealer workshop manager)reckons the E30 is the best made one of the lot this from a guy who has worked on BMW's since they came into the country and has worked on thousands of them.
He also has about 15 various models in his yard and warehouse.

Keep an eye on this forum as my ex diamond black 318Is is possibly coming up for sale soon 1st owner 10 years then me and now current owner .

I love everything about my M3. I suppose Im not as experienced as some of you as this is only my 3rd e30 having had a 90G 325ise and a 90H 325 sports when I was 20.

Ive had this for nearly 4 years now and after umming and arrring whether to get rid or not I just cant ever bring myself to sell it. It just looks the bizz and the drive is amazing....granted it hasnt got the sound of a six pot but when its singing you cant beat the s14.

After a year and a bit of building it, I really really enjoy the fact that my brown and rusty 21 year old car is pretty darn fast :)

Pulling away from pretentious pricks in their expensive cars never fails to make me smile :D
