Got pulled for the first time this morning.

Driving home early from a night shift 4:30am down a narrow street when i see a car coming the other way. (quite a bit above the speed limit if you ask me 8O )
It went past and turned around.
Cue blue flashy lights 8O

so i pull over
"turn your engine off sir"
"what are you doing out @ this time of the morning"
"i'm happy that you haven't been drinking, carry on sir"

Has anyone else been randomly stopped lately?
maybe its coz i just spent 3hrs of work related time polishing the E30 & he liked the shine?

Its all good fun when they pull you over for a "random" vehicle check when you know your car is fine on everything as you can be as rude and blunt as you like and they can't do jack.

Ask them questions such as "is it just old vehicles you are pulling over or do you pull over nasty rep mobile volvos too"

A sure way to get a producer

But yep they are a pain in the arse, i but you wouldn't like it if they didn't pull over random vehicles every now and then, one day it might be your motor that got stolen earlier on in the night.

I have only been driving since when i passed in march, and have had problems wirh the police. The first time i was very polite but now im just fed up. Each time they think the car is stolen.

In general the police seem ok about it though, and if it was stolen then i would want them to be pulling it over!

Do they realy do this near you? Ask about firearms?! 8O . They tend to say to me 'are you lost', 'do you own this car', 'you look a bit young'.

i've been pulled too many times to remember them all!

one of the best was my alpina i had owned it all of 4 hours and was still driving it home when i got a tug!

they are trained to treat all cars as stolen at first, most are good blokes if u talk to them in a decent, way.

They can soon tell when u have something to hide or act like a dick. They can tell your young by the way u drive! i used to get pulled all the time when i was 17,18 but hardly ever do now. at 23!

I got pulled once in my old sport was lowered to the floor, bassy exhuast etc. Must of been the way i drove it i've always thought!

Got stopped about a month ago for the first time in 8 years of driving (not all that long I know)

The guy said in response to "is there a problem?"

"Yeah, you haven't got a front bumber"
"Errrr, right" I say as we walk around to the front of my car.
"Oh" he says "yes you have, but these <wiggles an intercooler scoop> are too sharp"

Anyway, we get into a conversation about how I have to tell my insurance company about mods, I show him under the bonnet and off I go......after he's given me a producer :(

a few years ago i got pulled by a copper on foot 8O

i was going down a steepish hill and the car had a loud exhaust (ashley rallying system and manifold) and was on a carb so was popping and banging a little on over-run and i was on the brakes keeping down to 30ish..

anyway silly cnut copper steps out infront of me with his hand up leaving me only just enough room to stop, after the usual is this your car, are you insured and what are you doing here, he has a quick look at my tyres then puts his hand near the front brakes.. which are roasting from the hill/emergency stop ''youve been speeding havent you? shal i send for a (cop) car?''

in the end he just gave me a 10 min lecture about stopping distances and the dangers of speeding.... he must have been boared

got pulled in the E30 last November for my red rear indicators :P First time in years.

First car, back in the day (1991) was a Y reg Opel Kadett (Astra) 1.6SR so old skool MK1 shape, had the GM Dealersport stripes up the side and 4 cibie oscars on the front, looked a right rally slaag.

Got tugged twice on the first night out on the road :D

Best one was when making hurried progress home at about 11pm one night in the old dear's Ibiza, managing a 4 wheel drift off a roundabout with a police car in tow (didn't know he was there :P ) pulled onto the driveway, got out, omega sitting at the bottom of the drive, "oi sonny!", trundle down the drive and sit in the car getting grilled while the twats still had the blues on, so the whole chuffing road is looking out :P

"You went round that corner so fast, you almost left the road, what's the hurry"

"I'm late for cell block H" :D

Cautioned

Aah, those were the days.......

Mum, have you got a fiver for petrol? (yes £10 got you 16L in those days)

Since buying my black 325iSE in April 2006 I've so far been given a producer by a WPC who caught me parked the wrong way up a one-way street while visiting a cash dispenser in my home town and a pull for doing 60 in a 30 zone by a dog-handler PC who fortunately was off on a mission so let me off with a warning - then broke the speed limit by quite some margin himself while I was following at a distance

I should have known better than to buy a black Beemer but couldn't resist at the price (£700) :D

spot on. They would be spending their time catching 'proper' criminals if they didnt have to deal with tosser drivers who are pissed, uninsured or just crap drivers with badly maintained rides... personally I would just as soon see more of em about, better than cameras.

Rant over. :D

Iv been pulled quite a few times. Got pulled a lot in the mini. plus the 316i, prob cos of the chrome wheels. The car got searched for drigs one nite as we were apparantely acting suspicious! They never found anything obviously as i dont go near the stuff. The police can be a bunch of twats sometimes tbh. Only been pulled once in the 318IS. Its unbelievable how much a difference a standard car makes.

They pulled my mate the other day as he had a tailight out. They then gave him a really hard time about it. They had just been to macdonalds and my other mate (passenger) Had a plastic spoon from a macflurry and they asked him why he had it. They then took him out the car and searched him for drugs! What the hell can you melt on a plastic spoon! For god sakes!

Young lads in cars are easy targets. Theres this guy round my area who did me for driving through a town late at night and sed my exhaust was too loud and any exhaust over the standard sound was illegal! he then proceeded to fine me 30pounds! I wasn't doing anything wrong! Grrrr!

I must look old - I haven't had a single tug since I've been on four wheels (nearly five years now).
Guaranteed a pull every month when I was riding bikes, even managed to get pulled over twice driving a Reliant Robin*, but in cars? Nothing.

*Robins drift quite nicely in the wet......

Many moons ago i got pulled for having a "strange" looking number plate as i drove past a stationary cop car----- he sped up behind, pulled me,looked at the plate and couldn't quite make his mind up,then got down on his hands and knees and measured the characters...............that was it 3 mil too short! B@ll@cks! (the car was 5 year old and had been like that since new) anyway i had to report to a police station when rectified. Of course you shouldn't be able to go wrong with the present legislation.

Same, if your polite, then so are they in general! Its when you start being funny with them that they are going to think 'what a twat', and be harsh on you. I would be the same!

I have been pulled a few times, doing silly things really!

First time was on the A3 coming out of guildford, was 17 and doing 80mph with girlfriend of the time and driving a standard car. Plod didn't know really how fast I was going so just gave me the talk!

Next time was first time driving in central london, lost, looking for my girfriends flat having driven from Wales, late a night very tierd... Went through a red light, copper van behind me. "Sorry Sir" in my best welsh accent, i'm a bit lost.. They were fine, checked the car over and pointed me in the right direction! Very Lucky!

Got pulled last year in Aberystwyth (wales) was a bit hung over from big night before, but was luckly chewing gum! Copper did a few checks and pointed out a fuel leak. let me go anyway!

A friend of mine is a firearms cop, who does traffic when he's not out shooting people. He's a good guy, but apparently they have quotas to fill of how many people they have to stop, how many they have to breathalise etc etc. He hates it because he ends up having to pull people that he knows don't deserve it and if he's short on his quota he's going to have to nab the guy at 40 in a 30 just to keep his boss off his back.
I guess this is what you get for "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" being turned into policing targets....

On the other hand - no speed cameras in North Yorkshire \o/

when I was doing my legal executive course years ago up in the Boro, there was an ex-traffic cop on the course.

He had some good yarns to tell of.

Years ago (when plod was running Rover SD1's and early senators) yes that long ago! They used to have competitions to see how far out of the force area they could get and back during a shift. One group managed to get from the north east onto a ferry in Dover and off at calais, only problem they had a bump whilst in France and had to attempt some shifty excuses about that one. Think things got clamped down on a bit after that episode, haha

I came through the back of camber sands about a month back , 3am in the morning and you can see if anything is coming the other way as its all flat and in the daylight you can see for miles , got to the 60 limit and went for it , Unknowing that there was apolice diesel focus parked and hiding just as i entered the 60 limit , I wasnt hanging about and used all the road , I saw light behind me but i was pulling away so wasnt to fussed , When i got back to the 30 limit near winchelsea i slowed down to 30 again , Few minutes later Q the blues behind me :? I pulled over and got out the car , I thought ... Feck :( He asked me to turn the car off and step to the pavement , He asked if i had been drinking , I replied No as i dont , I then had to breathe on him otherwise they would have had to call for another unit with a breatherliser , Had a bit of a chat about the car as the other copper liked my bmw , He then said how do you explain drifting to the oncoming lane , I said ... If i call it the racing line will i be in trouble winkeye He found it quite humerous anyway , He said i dont mind the speed as i know you were but please stay in the correct lane , He then walked up to my car and said ... Whats it go like then 8O , I said how long did it take you to catch me :o , Worked out that the copprs missus has a 325i tourer . Nice one , He was friendly and gave me a lil warning about the dangers of cutting corners and i excepted it , He knew you could see if anything was coming , So there are still some good coppers out there
