Hi all.

I am contemplating buying another 325i Sport. If I do, I will want to store my Cab. during the winter until next summer.

Many of you store your cars (I presume) in your own garages. I don't have a garage and therefore want to know if anyone uses a commercial place to store a car and how much they cost per week.

Also, whilst in storage is the car insured on your own policy or that of the storage company? Any recommended places in/around London?

For those who switch between a summer and winter car and store in your own garage; do you buy one year of insurance and switch for six months at a time? Does anyone buy 'classic' insurance for just six months to enjoy the summer?

Lots of questions I know. However, the answers will help me make an informed choice.

Cheers

Not sure about the storage side of things, but it might be worth looking into suspending your policy whilst the car is in storage. Basically once suspensded you carry on paying, but when you re-instate your policy they will refund the payments you have made whilst the policy was suspended (Churchill did this for me, charged me 28 days as a surcharge, but I thought it was a fair deal)

Wait a minute, totally missed out the most important thing, you still get a no claims at the end of this, thats was what made it seem like a good idea!

If you suspend your policy what happens if someone nicks the car.

6 months Fire & Theft cover is all you need as its off the road. Its not expensive as the third party bit of insurance is the expensive part.

i am asuming that the storage place has their own insurance policy that you might pay extra for.

ive never used storage before, but it seems to me that its common sense for the storage company to offer such insurance..

Depends what sort of storage, if its a mates garage or corner of o awharehouse probably no insurance. If its a professional storage company then yes they would have insurance
