just seen some 80mm drop springs on ebay! has anyone got these?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/J-TEC-Lowering-Sp ... dZViewItem

will these cause rubbing with wheels + arches?

cheers :)

you must be mad!!

do you not have speed bumps where you live?!

i think most people achieve this much drop by coilovers, just winding them right down

I plan on dropping to that some time later in the year.

hehe, yeh deffinatly, unless its going to cause MAJOR scrubbing on the arches over bumps etc... if so, i will go for a 60mm drop, heard good things about the 60mm :D

but yea...anyone with an 80mm drop i would like to know if any arch work is needed or if its a horrible ride etc...

i'm guessing nothing will need replacing on the rear for a 60mm drop apart from springs? but for the front i will need uprated shocks? or will i need uprated shocks on the rear aswell  (on a bit of a tight budget if u havn't noticed) lol

I've got a 60mm drop on Spax springs and standard Bilstein shocks. Its not a bad ride but i will be uprating the shocks ASAP as i dont think they will hold out for to long. Still going strong at the moment though. Im sure if i had a proper set up say like the H&R kit it willl make the world of difference. Not to bad going over bumps on my own in the car but add 2 people and it scrapes like a goodun!

The only thing that scraped on my cabby with a 60mm drop was the mudflaps on the catseyes on the motorway and the exhaust coming out of my old drive. No tyre rub what-so-ever.

Always fancied an 80mm drop, but as I'm getting on a bit now I think I would get tired of it. Must get two cars then... he he!

lol :D ive just been searching the boards...peoples tyres have split because of the neg. camber on the rear wheels with a 60mm drop! so an 80mm looks like a no-go unless you faff about with poly bushes etc... i dont no wot to do now, i want 15" wheels no matter what, will this make any difference? :(

Trouble was that the catseyes used to pop the clips off that held the mudflaps on... had to carry a bag of spares around with me! Only happened on certain motorways so had to time my overtaking manouveures in between the eyes without touching them... very hard to do at 80/90... lol

Looked damn cool, but impractical.

Here she is... it's difficult to see because of the black sills, but the mudflaps at the front were about 15mm from the floor with no-one in it. It doesn't even look that low either, but you couldn't get a jack under her without driving up onto small wooden blocks... the perils of lowering a cab with deeper sills!

its gonna affect camber in a big way.

some adjustable camber brakcets to stop the tyres wearing on one edge would be needed.

yes u fit them and then the wheels will rub badly.

60mm ride is shit no matter what stuff u use, hell 40mm the ride ain't too good.

Depends on what rims u have and tyres as to rubbing. I wouldn't go 80mm i doubt it's really lower than a 60mm anyway.

I saw that. re-trimmed leather, full re-spray etc, i love it. If i was looking for my 325i yet i would have loved that, seems a fair price to me also. Is it a zoners car?

-80mm is way to low on any car. its not just the tyres that will suffer. For instance the rear driveshafts will have to run at an extreme angle, one for which they were not designed for. Iv heard stories of some cars shafts even failing/dislodging when running extreme drops like this. All your geometry wil be thrown out the window also. As mentioned, speed bumps also become mountains, and your sump better be strong too.

dont do it!

lol... each to there own ;) will Pi shocks be able to take 60mm springs? and will 15" BBS wheels rub with the 60mm drop?
