Overheated in Belgium on the way back from Scumball...
Needle up to the red, now has no cooling system and a bit of a knock.
What do I do?
1. Bodge the cooling system and run it with the knock until I can afford to do something nice (i.e. engine is scrap)
2. Full engine rebuild of the M42B18, probably costing about £1400 if it needs pistons...
3. Swap from 4 pot goodness to E34 535i engine and box for a few hundred quid? - Don't really fancy doing the swap and I'd ideally like a 4 pot solution.
What are your thoughts? - 6 pot bias aside, does anyone know of somewhere trustworthy that can work on the iS engine and rebuild cheaper?
Cheers,
Omi

I've got a friend with a rotten E34 535i with a good running engine if I'm tempted by the dark side!

yes Ian H35 is selling an is engine for 175 quid
i think plus a 2.5 over a heavy weight 3.5 will kick ist ass becuse of the power to weight ratio

Ok, 6 pot is out of the question...
I want to rebuild this one or get an immaculate low-miler engine as a replacement. The shell is worth it I think...

to be honest i'd say stick another m42 in there.
too many iS getting converted in my opinion. if you want an m30, get either a cacked m40 car or a 325 wi a blown head
