to go in to my e30 320i. would the lsd from the e34 fit in the e30 or will i

have to get another e30 diff/lsd???

has anyone got one with a ratio of 3.64/3.25

I think you'll find the E34 diff won't go, I'm afriad.

On the bright side, I have a 3.45 lsd for sale if you're interested.

Cheers,
Chris

I'd happily run a 3.45 on a 325i.

£250 delivered.

Cheers,
Chris

On a 335 it will be good, just make sure it's a large case dif because a small case might not be up to taking the torque from the M30.

Don't use a 3.25 ratio unless you do lots of motor way driving, depending how you like your cars gearing to feel you want a 3.64 for better in gear acceleration or a 3.46 to make it a little taller geared

looks like you cut the mounting plate from the e34 beam and weld on to the e30 beam. Then make up a bracket to mount the rear.

Looking at that pic you will need to change the output flanges from the large case to the medium case ones for the E30 half shafts to fit onto.

You will have to measure the e34 diff and compare it to the e30 one to see if the shalfts will fit or need to be shortend I have had a measure of my 525 lsd and I think the shalfts will be ok. The flanges again compare them with the e30 ones you may be able to fit the e30 flanges on to the e34 diff.

no - crap acceleration up through the gears but good for motorway cruising.

you neeed a least a 3.9 or even better a 4.1!!

Interesting, why is it then that early 325's were fitted with 3.64:1 diffs? BMW must not have known what they were doing.

hence the reason they upped them to 3.9 on the post facelift models.

if one is looking for better accerlation up through the gears you opt for a ratio higher than the factory one i.e. go from 3.64 to a 3.73 or even a 3.9

if one doesnt mind loosing acceleration for motorway cruising and increasing top end slightly for lower i.e. from a 3.64 to a 3.46 or a 3.25 even

a very popular mod for the m3 boys who run 3.25 diffs is to change them to a 3.64 or a 3.73. this gives them better acceleration on track.
