HELP SPEEDO PROBLEM

hello. ive got a 325i convertible on a f plate 88. on my speedo ive got a lazy mph gauge as it jumps up and down when it wants to, and the fuel gauge is also lazy. any suggestions please.

Does the rev counter / eco meter to anything strange?
The speedo has a pic up in the differential, look at it from the rear of the car and you should see a wire. Take the sensor out and give it a clean and make sure the wire is all in good shape.
The fuel guage maybe the nut at behind the guage, may just need tightening.
If these don't work then try swapping the whole unit with another one. People sell them on here for about £15.
