I'm in the process of respraying all the faded exterior black on my tourer. I've done the scuttle vents and door handles and they look great. I had a half hearted attempt at removing the door/window trims and weather strips but it seemed a bit more involved than i hoped. Am i better off masking the surrounding areas and spraying with it all still attached?

Bit of a mission mate,if i remember right-door panel off, wind window down and remove the outer weather strip then lever the Black trim upwards(fragile so be carefull not to bend/kink).datourer wrote:I'm in the process of respraying all the faded exterior black on my tourer. Uh oh. Be warned! The beltline window trims are very fragile and are a real bear to remove. The clips that hold them on oxidize over time and really don't like to let go.
I tried verrrrry carefully to remove mine and of the six pieces (four doors and two rear quarters) I kinked two beyond recognition and subtly bowed a third. All three pieces had to be replaced with new, and they were ridiculously expensive.
If you DO end up removing them, do a very careful inventory of all the clips to make sure you know where they go. There are at least 5 different clip types holding the beltline trim on!
Best of luck.
