My gong gives a single chime when i turn ignition on. Never heard it before now. I then have a constant pitched humming whilst driving and even with the ignition off.
Apart from running the battery down, it is bloody irritating. OBC also tells me it is 6 deg F outside. Michael Fish i ain't, but even i reckon something is suspect.
Any idea's people.

From the chime on start up and the dodgy temperature reading it sounds as if your temp' sensor is knackered/disconnected. Don't know why it should hum though.

You have two faults.
First, there is something wrong with the outside temp sensor or its wiring. The gong on switch on is the ice warning.
Second, your gong itself is faulty. I had one go like this, and I modified it slightly, rather than cured it properly.
I traced out the circuit, but still couldn't work out was wrong. IIRC, I added a pull up or pull down resistor somewhere to shut it up.
Unfortunately, although I've still got the circuit and notes on how it works, I didn't write down the mod.
