had the weekend to have a play in the beast lol
and I have not had one issue with it.

not been caning it
just pootling around getting used to it.

and not once has the temp gauge gone over the half way mark
and in this weather that impressed me

it seems to boost quite well
no speed demon
but the torque difference compared to a
normal 1.8 M40 is great.

still running very low boost
but there is room for more I believe

its a bit weird in auto form
but second to third is very intresting lol

Just been through some of the data collected on mapping this project.

peak boost = 11.754 psi made from 3.8K rpms upwards with an AFR of 12.9 on boost 16.0 on cruise and 16.1:1 @ idle

not bad from the lil old M40 eh

I left the boost lower than this on the fin al map due to high charge temps on the intake, with an efficent IC installed I can see no reason why 1BAR is not achievable.

Good cruise/tick over AFR's, it'd be nice to to get near those AFR's on my M30 once it's back running.

What sort of cruise/tick over AFR's were you getting on Tobys M30 ?

Going from what they said to me I'd say the torque is somewhere near the 180-200lb/ft and power about the same, nothing confirmed and I'm yet to have a go myself.

I hope a RR soon will confirm this plus Malc fitting a IC and upping the boost again should see a lot more!

as said by Mark
we dont have any official power or boost figures yet
but I still need to fit an I/C and then maybe we'll up the boost
once thats done we will try for some figures then

welcome back fella !

he must be liking it , he keeps upping the boost

last I heard was it "cuts out" on WOT kickdowns, that'll be the boost cut limiter then  gotta protect the man's investment, its for his own good.

More boost after an IC is sourced to fit but we've run just under a BAR in testing without issues( det ) the IAT were a litt;le high for my liking so I pegged it @ 7.5 psi-obv not enough though

Fuel economy was better than stock when I drove it  torque monster M40, no theres an unusual sentance

7.5psi - nice nice nice - and about 14 in tests without knocking, that's sweet.

m40 plus FI - it seems two wrongs do make a right afterall :)

saw this at guildford, and i msut say does indeed look very good.

mal explained the megasquirt business, sounds quite interesting! though as Si pointed out, calculations and setting now will not be valid in winter?

need to constantly set up different maps and select accordingly?

anyway glad to see it running, flippin toasty though! lol

any RR figures/graphs yet???

correct me if i'm wrong but the air intake temp sensor takes care of the the summer/winter issues by trimming the fuel table (and spark?) based on air temp (density)

In a nutshell mate !, glad someone pays attention

the ECU use coolant temp and intake air temp to determine the fuelling required, they are trim maps to work alongside the main look up tables.

in short:

Fuel map value +/- % coolant trim, +/- % IAT trim = fuelling output

Mine and Fozzys car have done 2 winters without needing any remapping done for "climate change"

what Ant said

the way I understand it is
there is no reason to re-map for winter time as
you set the squirt to what the car needs to run
then it takes care of itself when temprature changes.

otherwise you would need to remap it when
you go through places like blackwall and dartford tunnels
because of the drastic temprature drops
and I have been through both on many occasions
since having it fitted
without problem

OOOOH Yeah

its a strange beast to say the least

you can drive around pootling about in london's traffic
without a hitch
but stamp on the loud pedal and she lifts her skirt and starts dancing

overtaking on the motorway is a doddle now too

I think that when the car is warm then yes what you guys are saying is correct but correct me if im wrong for cold start maps come winter the car will need to go back to and have them changed/made up.

I have never done any kind of mapping/data logging on a live car only messed around with the software in offline modes so i guess it would be okay to use base maps across the board when setting up the EMS.

yes dude, the Tech-edge gear is keenly priced, prefer the innovate though, better supported and easier to use

you getting one for Maxx ? innovate Lc-1 seems the obvious choice and will run a WB02 52mm diplay if you were wanting?

Dude Maxx can run a WB02 gauge and its got a built in controller so all i need is a Wide band sensor.
