Air Flow troubles! lumpy tick over!

help guys, i have changed just about every hose i can get my hands on, and still it chugs its arse off on tickover!

well, i changed the main inlet pipe and that helped out a lot, but what i did look at today is inside the AFM, and while its tickin over if i push the little slider thing forward just a touch it seems to run better, its all clean in there. i just dont get it.

maybe a new AFM is in order, but if anyone has any better ideas im all ears. is there anyway of proving what it could be? all ignition side is only a year old or so, apart from the plugs, but they are only a few k old too. just redone all my clearences too, sigh, going crazy on this!

Pushing the butterfly in the afm will inhance the air flow so you might be better off getting the engine tuned up by someone maybe with a rolling road as they can adjust the afm without over fueling.

ok well if i were just to try adjusting it myself, should i turn the wheel in tere clockwise or anti? and by how many notches?

You can make it over fuel so much with out any instrument's telling you what your doing!
Find a fiend who own's an MOT station and rig the car up to the emission's tester, that will let you know how much you can advance the air flow

hmm, well the bugger is overfuellin like a mad thing at the minute, stinks of fuel on tickover, passed the mot a month or so ago like, but even so, she does hum of it loads! thirsty too, OBC is sayin 13 litres to 100Km, which i think is around 20 ish mpg i believe, surley not right for a 2.5? would have thought a few more.
erm, does anyone know of a rollin road around stafford birmingham or stoke where i can get a bit of a discount for settin up?

Sound's like you will do a world of good getting her setup and will defo save on fuel!
Try an MOT garage first mate, bung them a drink for their trouble's, that sort your problem's as it can be quite pricey getting your car setup

yeah think it needs doing, will get me zone 1 chip sorted with ant, bung that in then see what can be done and who i can bribe!

oh, and a new soddin radiator and water pump while the doctors in! just a few things and i got me a lovely motor!

bloody annoyin though, just had a 3k spray jobbie on it! and i cant really drive it, when i do all i get is pre ignition! gets too hot too fast, nevermind, should be cool by tomorrow night!
