They are removeable but i have never seen anywhere selling just the boots, you will probably end up replaceing them.... my 320 had a new ball joint fitted just before i bought it,
so you don't have to replace the entire arm but apparantly they are not an easy job as whoever did mine has slightly damaged the arm and split the new boot

its something i mite have to do with my alloy ones too. you can buy polu boots from USA but that might get expensive

yup it's a bit of a pain to do but not impossible. Just get some new rubbers from a scrappy car.
it's a real prob when fitting springs/shocks swapping legs
bmw only sell whole arms, my local auto factors sell ball joints in their own but not rubbers.
how can poly boots be any good? they don't flex or move?!

hence why i wont be wasting the money on them, perhaps theyr stronger?
anyhow, picked up these alloy ones this evening (thanks Q), and three gaitors are split. So hopefully the ones on my arms are not too bad. what is exactly involved in getting them off/putting them on is it just a clip, then slide it over the bolt?
will upload pics 2moro

You can buy the rubber covers seperately from kit car bit suppliers.
I took a couple of genuine E30 covers with me to a kit car show a couple of years ago and bought several off a trader there. Have used several, and, AFAIK, they have all been fine.
