Do you mean a K&N induction kit? If so, have you provided for a cold air feed to it?

I put a K&N style filter on the IS but its an all stailess steel type and its lost a little torque lower down but pulls better when its up there. :D love the sound too!

A lot of people just keep theyre stock airbox and get a panel filter for it. The downside with the k&n is, it can sook in all the hot air in the enigne unless you have a heatshield and a cold air feed. Maybe look into getting those? As for using more fuel, is your right foot any heavier since fitting it to hear the noise? lol

I dont know if its just peole driving the car harder cos of the sound but Ive heard theyre really bad 4 drinking fuel after putting in a induction kit 2 from a few people. As 4 the power loss I dont know thats pretty strange since ur letting the engine breath easier, unless u put the filter straight on2 the intake manifold and just left it at that. Know a guy who did that on a saxo, dont think he knew much about the idea behind inductio kits, lol

Well........a friend of mine has just removed a K&N kit that was fitted to his Golf VR6 and put the orignal airbox and filter back on, He say's has noticed a "slight" loss of low down grunt, (ass dyno maybe) but he has gained +5Mpg......

I am replacing mine K&N with a standard filter and airbox.

the main problem most people have is that the k + n or any other filter is sucking warm air of the engine giving a drop in power a decent heat shield and cold air feed and it should be ok

thanks guys for the advice. i went to quary motors who specalise in bmw cars they have quite a few e30's and they recomend i take it off. but the advice with the heat shield might work well. by the way i cant hear any noise different . i do have a full twin sebring exhust system which gives me an awsome sound thats why i may be's dont hear the k&n. by the way it is a k&n induction kit.
