Over the last week I've driven my mates E36 M3 Evo Cab and also my brothers Alfa 156 2litre. Both are wonderful cars, nice to drive and look the nuts.

However, just gone to Dorset and back today to visit me mum (I'm in Hampshire) and I gotta say, for sheer driving pleasure, my "lowly" E30 316i beats them both hands down.

I've just had the clutch fixed and the lower trailing arms replaced so now the old girl just feels wonderful again.

Closest thing I can describe it to is that the Evo and the Alfa were like sleeping in a posh hotel. All very nice and all but nothing beats getting back into your own bed :)

Of course, owning a 17 year old car has its problems. Such as, on joining the M3 at Basingstoke the radio decided to blow a fuse. So, I've got no radio, no revmeter and no clock. Ah well never mind must be a short somewhere:) I've come back home tonight and the window switches now stay illuminated and the windows work even with the ignition off and the doors closed (I've enabled the deadlock to save my battery).

Oh well, looks like I'll be up to my armpits in wiring again tomorrow. :p

Hi I am glad to hear someone else drives a 316i,everybody seems to drive a 318i and upwards. One fellow member even said they were crap.but eventualy he did come around and say they were not to bad [guilty concious].I enjoy driving my 1990 E30/M40 its better than my wifes compact.
It sounds lovely[to me] as I do not have any engine rattles yet.I have been trying to post a picture but have not cracked it yet. :thumb:

Well, I'll be the first to admit that a 316 isn't exactly quick off the mark. But it'll do 90 all day long and, besides, E30's are all about going round corners sideways winkeye

Hehe very true.
Now try cornering with knackered rear bushes. My brother refuses to drive my car now after managing to get the arse out in B&Q carpark at 10mph

Another thing on the todo list.

Fixed the Radio, fixed the windows and even got the windscreen washers unblocked! (Why is it the only one that ever gets blocked up is the one that points at the drivers side? )
