right, this has been p*ss*ng me off for ages now! a while ago, i removed my clocks to replace some bulbs that wernt working, low petrol level was one of them. when i was riding round with my "test clocks" in, my brake pad wear light was permanently lit, but my pads were ok, and the low fuel level light still wouldnt work! so i tried another set of clocks, and the low fuel light worked.
ive now replaced most of the bulbs in my orginal clocks, and made sure they worked by checking resistance across them. i put my clocks back in, ran the tank low, and bastard light still wont come on!!!
also my pad wear light has gone off. is this a fault internally within the cluster and if it is, what can i do??? if its not, what can i do?
any help will be much appreciated...

thats what i was thinking. i had all apart to look at it and i was searching for things like dry solder cracks, or burnt out connections, but couldnt see anything...
ali, if you look at this, can you pm about those other clocks you had that came out of your £5 iS please mate!
they have to be iS clocks that go onto anothre iS as they're different to any other E30, 6 CYL OR 4! ITS A PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!

Stuart,
Any clocks will work assuming you have the right coding plug im told
i recently got rid of my councilled up clocks by installing a set of 318i clocks. it helps a lot if you have two sets, as you can mix and match the working bulbs etc to create one very good set, and still have another set for spares.
re: the pad wear indicator, i took my legs of yesterday to fit some inverted bilsteins, with the greatful help of simon13, to find the pad wear indicator on the passengers side had come out of its clip, and had been rubbing against the strut, and had worn through, hence why my pad light was on. So if this comes on with your new set, try that before pulling the bulb out

Low fuel light is a very simple circuit, and I've never come across a faulty one - just owners who are too paranoid to run the tank low enough.stuartgallafant wrote:right, this has been p*ss*ng me off for ages now! a while ago, i removed my clocks to replace some bulbs that wernt working, low petrol level was one of them. when i was riding round with my "test clocks" in, my brake pad wear light was permanently lit, but my pads were ok, and the low fuel level light still wouldnt work! so i tried another set of clocks, and the low fuel light worked.

It's a lamp connected to fuse 10 on one side and to earth via pin 5 of the whirte cluster socket and the sender level switch.
Fot the pad wear indicator "220 OHM RESISTOR"
