Thinking about buying a nice and clean 325i se to swap my running gear and drop my new engine into...

Bascially I'm after a 2 door RUST FREE 325i se. I fancy Brilliant red, Black, Dolphin grey or a nice maroon colour.

How much would one of these cost and has anyone seen one about?

I don't care about the engine. In fact an absolute MINTER with a shagged engine is exactly what I'm after. I'm fitting an S50B32 so the engine will be scrapped.

Anyone seen one around for sale?

I'm also wondering how much a niceish M3 is with a blown engine.... :D

No point in butchering an iS.

Considering you'll be swapping everything anyway you might as well go for a 316i/18i/20i.

I appreciate that buying a car for the shell is a good way forward.. After all thats the bit I really need, certainly suspension wise nothing from the original will be used. Trouble is a base model comes with none of the toys, not as nice carpets etc. Also, if the car I buy has the larger struts and disks all round etc I can put them back on my car and keep it useable/saleable (all-be-it for little money).

A 316/318 with no sunroof and no toys would be a good way forward, especially if I seem welded it and fitted a cage but I dont have the time or a workshop at the moment. The 325i se would be a VERY sleeper street car and comfy for the drive to work. Plus I wouldn't have to go to a scrappy and rob a 325 of all it wiring/goodies.

Saying that if a PERFECT paint/shell 318 came up for little money I'd probably bite the guys hand off at the moment. I need something to get this underway.

By the way, if I went for a non-sunroofed example, could I get black headlining for it?

Many thanks and keep these comments going. I have to get re-enthused about this project!

I saw that before I started this thread and had forgotten about it..

You're right. I might have to look at this! Seems to have everything I need. I couldn't get my car to this standard for the same money.

Right you bunch of greedy SOAB's.. mits off..

i would def go for a 320i se
as theyre cheap as chips and other than swapping to 25 front legs and rear shocks
you get the same spec as 25se

just make sure ya get 1 with rear discs

deffo cheaper than a 25 se all day long mate

A 320 isn't a problem. I'll be swapping to my MCoupé trailing arms and M3 front struts and the engines going.

The one on Ebay looks nice, I just don't know if I can afford it this month. We shall see...

Thanks for the input guys.

if suspension & everything else is being junked then worth looking for a 316/318 lux as that will have a decent interior etc, could get a nice late 316i lux on a J plate for a bag of sand

Whats the difference between 316 lux spec and 325i/320i se spec?

That white one looks just the ticket eh? Shame its white. What does white look like with an MTecII kit?

If the shell's mint and the price is right it may be a winner.

There is every point as they were the only e30 shells that were galvanised and hence hardly rust at all compared to the rest of the e30 range

why were the iS's the only ones to be galvanised, that means my minty fresh SE is even more of a testiment to the previous owner
