My electric windows seem to have broken and i dont know what it is. Its not the fuse anyway. It could be the loom from the door as it looks like its had a short but the purple and black wire from the motor look to be fine. I have to go to t in the park tommorow so need the window to be shut but im not that bothered if i can bodge it then fix it next week. Is there any way i can manually shut the window as its stuck down??? What do i do. I just want my window closed.
Thanks in advance.

If your at the wiring at the motor you could apply power and ground directly on the motor wiring to 'drive' it up.
If you have the door trim off you can use an allen key to turn the motor manually.
If it's an early car or a conversion the last step can be done by removing the blanking plug on the manual door trim.

Early electric windows could be worked manually, but later ones can't be.
Try pulling out both switches from the console and swapping them - switch is the most common problem.
Sounds like you've got the door card off? Power the motor directly with a couple pieces of wire. Earth one of the motor wires and apply 12V to the other. Swap the wires over if it goes the wrong way.

mine does it too mate, i have to pop off the gear-gator and then pop out the switch and then just clean the connector with a small wire brush and it works again.hammoj28 wrote:Hey, erm....slightly embarrassed here. Slightly miss read the OP as driver's door not working, passenger door still working! So my suggestions weren't really relevant.
Just had a good look at a pair of E30 OE electric window mechs - I can't see anywhere to work them manually!
