How do you remove brake light switch at brake pedal?

Need technical Q/A then you're in the right place

My brake lights are sticking on when the brake pedal comes up and it looks like the switch above the brake pedal needs to adusted or replaced. However, I can't see how to remove it. The Bentley manual seems to refer to the switch for the pre-facelift model where there are two nuts you can loosen and adjust the distance from the end of the switch to the pedal.

There seems to be a plastic housing around the switch on mine and I don't see how it can be detached. Don't want to break it.

Thanks,
Kevin.

Is the pedal coming up far enough to work the switch?
If not, adjust the pull rod that goes across behind the heater.

I didn't think of that option. The pedal needs to come up a just a slight bit further to activate the switch, if you pull up the pedal with your hand it switches off the brake lights. Thought adjusting the switch would be the easiest option. I'll have a look this weekend.

Thanks,
Kevin.

You don't pull hard you use your brain.

To remove, you slide the coloured collar up the switch shaft and this releases and allows the plastic tabs which grip the bracket to be bent in as you ease the switch out. Fitting is the reverse with the collar out to start with.
