The metal elbow that (from memory) goes from the throttle body, to some rubber tubing, that is in turn connected to the Idle Control Valve:
Where the metal elbow inserts into the throttle body, should there be a gasket or seal of any kind at that join?
Seems a little loose otherwise (as mine is).

I think the answer is no.
I just changed the throttle body on my car, and there is a similar elbow on the other side that connects a pipe to the brake vacuum servo. The replacement throttle body I got didn't have that elbow, just a couple of holes. I just eased it out of the old TB with a screwdriver and tapped it into one of the holes on the new TB (temporarily filling the other hole with a rubber stopper and a screw, don't ask!).
There didn't appear to be any seal or gasket on this elbow, it's just a snug fit. I would assume that the other elbow is identical.

they are peened to fit snug @ the factory, loose units can cause running probs .
remove and gently peen the ends over and refit, or use some threadlock or a drop of aralidite/threadlock to re-secure them.
Make sure the "glue" is dry before running the car though dudes
its a common problem

Mine is definitely loose.
What is "peen"?
Would some liquid gasket sealent, such as Hylomar Blue, be OK to make the seal tighter?
