Hi everyone.

I just picked up my 318is last night and thought I would post up to say hello to everyone. I've got a red one in original spec bar the addition of some Alpina replica's.

I will hopefully be meeting a few of you this saturday at the Ace's Cafe meet. :)

hehe...gimme a chance I only just picked it up yesterday :)

You can take a look from the advert on pistonheads.

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/85166.htm

I think it's a pretty clean example though I have been told not to look in the for sale section on here by a friend in case mines not as good a deal as I think it is. :?

Thats the higher end of the IS sale price, but the car look mint. Its worth spening on initial buying of the car, not buying a cr*p one and spending a lot on it.

Thanks everyone :)

I knew it was at the higher end of things but as you mentioned, I think it's worth spending an extra few hundred quid and getting a good one.

Im based in North West London chaps. Quite looking forward to meeting up with a few fellow owners to go out driving with. I used to have a Civic Type-R which I sold in January for money reasons. Been driving a Volvo 440 for 7 months and have now decided to get something decent :)

Question: I normally use the username "Miracle" but it seems to be registed on here already with zero posts. I think it may have been me a while back. Who would I need to contact about possibly confirming this and getting me switched over? Thanks and sorry to ask silly questions.

Welcome. The IS is a great car. Seems a decent price that you bought it for aswel if its in good nick. looks good to me. Iv learned not to pay stupidly cheap prices as most of the time you end up with a banger so you are better paying a bit more to get a better car.

Welcome to the Zone Buddy, very nice looking 318is you have there!! Especially as it's in RED !!
Looks like it was produced 145 cars before mine was made, as my Reg starts G567, it also had the SE Skirts fitted from Factory too.

Very Nice Example of a 318is!!

Ahh cool, my mates have been trying to convince me to remove them to return it to the original condiion. I can tell him to fook off now :D

Can you say if the Alpina wheels would affect the handling? Mate's are saying it will handle better with the original wheel on it.

Thanks :)

If I had to make a choice in terms of which BBS wheels to use I would go for the 15" BBS, won't affect your ride and will also give better handling, 16" Alloys would also be fine. With a set of larger alloys (17"+) you tend to lose a little speed, touch of tramlining, but nothing serious. Ultimately the choice is up to you, it's all about what your personal prefrence is! If you wanna stay original then go for some 15" BBS but if you wanna go larger (i'm assuming the Alpina Reps are 17") the choice is up to you.
Glad to see you won't be taking of the SE Skirts, I personally think they look the Nuts and go well with the lines of the car.

Any other plans for the car??

Quite possibly but not for a while, wanna make sure it's reliable first. Im happy with the handling at the moment, the suspension must have been changed as it's very tight......too tight for a car that's done 124k miles. Im a little dissapointed with the low end grunt and lack of it though.

I hear a induction kit and chip go a long way on these cars...take it upto around 150-155bhp odd......is that right?

Can do, depending on what you use. BMC do a decent air box, just remember that a cone filter will do nothing for your car, if anything it will make it slower, so it's better to have a cold air induction system running. There are various chips that can be had, Sal from the Zone shop or Ant are the chaps to talk to about this. You can get decent gains from using a cold air feed and chip, all depends on what you use..There's so many, have a nose and see what takes ya fancy...I would definately talk to either Sal or Ant regarding this.
