Mine failed as i took it to somewhere i had never been before, funny as mine failed on subframe mounts too!,how much did it cost you to sort those out?
I was expecting a clean sheet.

copied from my thread:

The e30 failed her m.o.t today (£44 wasted) she was taken to Forgemotors in Cwmbran,S.Wales.
i'm pi**ed off,i have to drive around now in my old mans dirty,no wheel trims, noisy,Rovershed 200 which funnily enough passed the same day and it's a rust bucket,OH THE HUMILIATION.

she failed on:

1.headlights were aimed too low on both sides
2.shock absorber bush worn
3.nearside & offside subframe mounts worn (apparently a bit** of a job, garage wanted £250 to do it)
4.welding on the sil (a hole the size of a pea)
5.exhaust front mount bracket broken

I got the parts from Rydale Newport £45 +vat & a mate sorting out the repairs for £100.

Anyone else have a suprise M.O.T

The last 3 mot's i've had have been straight through passes. Probably helped by the fact i only drive about 10km a week!

Mine flew straight through as well. Just needed the exhaust aligned after I fitted it under the car from the rebuild.
They seemed really interested in the car as well which was cool.

Had the car 3 yrs passed every time,I am lucky though as the mechanic where I work is mot trained and he makes sure it is in good order.

mine failed last week on 2 rear tyres(not much of a surprise there) and my angel eye headlights being set on left hand drive which took 20 minutes to re set 8)which was a bonus as when i bought the car a year ago from a garage it had a duff 12 month mot as the brakes or handbrake didnt work, but i have replaced almost everything in the last year

Rubbish! Any reasonably well maintained and seviced E30 should go straight through every year. Never had one fail, except for some deliberate damage done by one crook trying to drum up business.
Anyone failing on something like a worn tyre or non working lamp deserves to loose £40 or whatever a retail MOT is these days.

thats the problem though, when your getting your first mot on a car you dont know how well its been maintained by the previous owners,i knew about my tyres but was expecting more anyway so hadnt bothered changing them, was pleasantly surprised to be honest with the result winkeye

Mine failed the last one on front jacking point (even though it's not actually a jacking point) and a front balljoint.. the next one it will fly through as most things will have been replaced and I know the car better :D

If it failed on tyres, you were driving illegally anyway. You shouldn't even have driven it away from the test station
