Hello there, just wondering about clutches as i'm replacing mine very soon. Was considering a Black Diamond clutch, or even just a new BMW clutch.

What do you guys think? Diamond? BMW? Or something better?

Many thanks, Jo.

Go with the Sachs clutch.
What do you mean by better? Clutch down; dissconnects drive. Clutch up; connects drive. What more do you want from a clutch?

Thanks for the responses/help. I think everyone on the E30 Zone is aware of how clutches operate (thanks for your specialist knowledge team member)!

What i wanted to establish was whether it was worth putting in a performance clutch for a 325i Sport with a few mods (running just over 200bhp). The gearbox is being reconditioned as it's done a few miles, so wanted to replace the clutch as well. Thought it would be sensible.

I've been looking at Black Diamond & AP racing clutches. Now, AP racing don't do clutches for a 325i Sport so have been getting quotes from Black Diamond (£230.00).

Every clutch does the same as every other clutch which is obvious, but not all clutches perform the same way. There's obviously a difference as there seems to be a difference in the prices!

Many thanks, Jo.

 the standard clutch is WAY over specced!

I have 270bhp and 240lbft on a standard sachs clutch which cost me £40.

Stay standard and enjoy a light pedal dude, you're never gonna worry it N/A! :D

Another one that needs to walk around to the front or back of their car and read the badge!
It says "BMW", not Ford or Vauxhall or whatever.
Do you really think that BMW would spec a clutch that's really at the limit of it's performance.
Standard clutch will happily take anything a N/A M20 can throw at it, and keep on doing so for 150,000 miles!
Also, don't you think the OP would have made a bit more sense, if you'd mentioned that the engine was non standard.

Looks like it's a standard clutch then. The only reason why i was tempted by an alternative clutch is simply because people that i know have recommended Black Diamond to be very good.

As this site has much experience behind it, i think i will be settling for a normal clutch from BMW.

Many thanks, Jo.
