Car has just started blowing blue smoke from the exhaust.

I've just taken the plugs out to do a compression test and no.s 1,2 and 3 had oil in the plug tube.

compressions were 180psi on 1,3 and 4 ,and 250psi on no 2 .Is 250 very high or are the others quite low?.All Haynes manual says is minimum
10-11bar which is about 154psi

Hopefully this means the rings are OK

Do any of you know what pressures a healthy is produces ?

My next thought was worn oil seals on the valve guides causing the blue smoke ,but that dosent solve the oil in the sparkplug tubes

Any thoughts or experiences appreciated

Sorry, O/T

Is your car red as i might have seen it around L/E(Draycott Rd ?) ? Looks nice and tidy/well looked after if it is the one i'm thinking of.

I've not got any experiance with the M42 but from what i know 180psi sounds normal to me but i'm not sure why you got 250 on cyl 4 ? May be some oil went in to the combustion chamber from the spark plug holes and gave you a false reading ?

As to the oil in the spark holes is there a gasket in the rocker cover some where to keep the oil out ?

When are you getting smoke, full throttle, high revs over run or on start up ?

Yes its red with Mtech2 kit, probably the wife out shopping , I hardly ever get to drive it

It was no 2 with the highest pressure and that did have the most oil in

The smoke is on startup and blipping throttle overrun. Not sure about on full throttle as I'm usually looking forward with tunnel vision!
