looking at a few E30's there seem to be alot of auto's around but im concerned because most of the adverts say working switchable auto. is this a common problem with the E30. i would normally opt for a manual but basically it will come down to what car is best over all.

any checks for the autobox or things to look out for

cheers

I have a non switchable auto box in my car. I believe the switchable ones give up the ghost fast than the non switchable ones. BUT cars with switchable gearboxes are faster than non switchable cars, and saying that means that some owners used the "switchable" option enthusiastically.

auto boxes rob the cars of some power, but saying that my 325i auto is as quick on the move as my old sport!

the boxes wear out but can do the miles. my auto box has done 145k and is still going
