these usually break when the nuts sieze onto them right.. Do they ever snap when you try to take them out of the head? getting my 6 branch soon and just wondering how to get a snapped stud out. ( it sticks out past the head.. so atleast I can get some grips onto it)
Or would I be better off just splitting the nuts and getting new ones, then reusing the old studs in situ?

If its got remaining thread on the studd, try getting two bolts onto it and undoing the one closet to the head.
Use lots and lots of WD40 or better
I would replace as many studds + bolts as possible. Make sure you get proper BMW ones (which you actually can get from ECP)
Be carefull with splitting studs etc etc as the head is very delicate and some studds are close to waterways

If a broken stud sticks out past the head, then place a large thick washer over it and weld the two together.
Heat from the welder will unsieze it, and the two can be wound out together with a pair of grips.

I saw them in halfords.. But what are the chances of the studs breaking even if using shed loads of wd40?
