My wife's 325 touring is up for insurance renewal this week.
It's insured with More Than who sent a letter last week saying "do nothing and we will automatically renew your policy from the same credit card as used last year". Renewal was just over £200.
Just did an on line quote with More Than, using exactly the same details as the existing policy.
£57-23 CHEAPER!!!
Can't blame them for trying I suppose.
Think I'll be on the phone for a little chat tomorrow!

thieving sh1ts!!!!

my wife always says "is that the best you can do" ans "please put me though to your supervior" whenever she calls and always get about 20% more off her premiums!

an interesting point to note:
a friend of mine used to work for Hastings Direct (local to me but quite big now!) and after working there for a month she had the authority to provide up to a 50% discount on their initial quotes! her superviors could offer more than that still! if you have the cheek to press them hard enough, you can hammer that price down more i reckon. push til they say no then ask to speak to a supervisor! :D

I dont trust insurance co's as far as i could throw em...rung for a quote for a ford ka and got £600 odd quid and 2 days later this turned into £300 odd quid--same details, same company, different guy. And this is not the 1st time either, makes you think.

im with more than too

and exactly the same thing happend earlier this year

when i said the online price was cheaper
they said i had to cancel my current policy and then go back online and buy the policy with the new quote

what a pain in the ass
why they cant just change it on there system and give me the new price is beyond me

anyway as they asked i went on line and took the new quote

bloody ridiculous situation

this is a fairly common trick insurers use to lure new punters in, by really knocking the premium down for new business, then come renewal time they apply standard rates, relying on the lazyness of punters not to shop about and to just take the easy option of letting the renewal take place.

btw, its worth doing the same thing with Dell. Don't accept the website price, their phone sales people can usually beat them by a decent margin, or at least get delivery thrown in.

I said if you have an accident in a pug your dead! how the F do they work it our. Older cheaper safer car should be less.
Ours in not to reason why ours is but to pay or die!

i always get a brand new quote online if im going for the same company again.....saves me 30-50 quid everytime

the thing that really annoys me is when they add a premium for getting a new car.....i was once quoted 80 quid more because id just bought the car whereas if id owned it for more than a year it dropped the 80 quid.

i also avoid all of the bullshit "extras" like car hire and legal help and all that gash......when was the last time you used any of it????

they're plastic!!!!

a 205 is actually remarkable strong and unlike a lot of older cars, (as the later ones are galvanised) don't collapse in a pile of rust!

u want legal cover and it's not alot to have it either.

i wouldn't chance it without. what happens if u hit a person on a level crossing whilst speeding? without cover u would really be up the creek!

Recieved four letters from More Than this morning, all in seperate envelopes!
1/ A big fat letter welcoming me to More Than, containing my insurance certificate and a load of advertising blurb.
2/ A letter thanking me for using the website and confirming a password
3/ A letter confirming the cancellation of my old policy (renewed two days before)
4/ A cheque for £205-66; a refund of the premium I had paid two days before by credit card, which I won't even have paid off for three weeks, effectively giving me a £200 interest free loan!

Total saving for me: £57-20.
Total additional costs to More Than ???
Just because they wouldn't give me the same terms for a renewal as a new quote!
