I put in my immobiliser key (little thing which looks a lot like a headphone jack) and it didn't turn off the flashing LED on the dash and obviously the car wouldn't start.

It's taken a couple of times in and out of the slot to get the LED off for a few days so is this just a worn key? And will I have to bend over with my trousers down at the dealers for a new one? :?

Or is it more likely to be the "lock" that the key slots into? I'm not sure how the system works and I only have one immobiliser key so can't check with another unfortunately :(

Finally is it possible to turn off the immobiliser system? PM if necessary.

Cheers in advance

Bin the useless thing.
White two pin socket above the glove box, with two green wires. Disconnect the plug to the immobiliser, and refit a plug which shorts the two green wires together.
You may find a plug with a short loop of green wire tied up to the loom nearby, made for the purpose.

Thanks for that Brian. It started working again today but will certainly give that a try if it happens again :thumb:
