Ok, as most of you guys know by now, my engine died on me - messed piston rings on my 325i. So I decide its cheaper to buy a "new" engine, which I did - a lower mileage 325i, along with a guarantee. Cost me 7000 Rand (us South Africans, you know) - about 500 quid for you guys.
I'm about to go and pick up my baby with her new implant, when I get a call from my mech - "Dan, we have some bad news for you"
Here it comes - I think.
"This block is totally buggered, we turned it over once, and there was water and oil mixing straight away."
Great - I think
So I call the guy who sold me the motor. He say no probs, he calls my mech.
They are going to strip my ex lump and my current one, and going to see if they can salvage anything - if not he will pay for a new engine for me and give me a years guarantee on it.
BUT, DAMNIT, I WANT MY CAR BACK!!!!!!
Now I'm sad. Oh well, at least they are going to source me a motor that works properly, with low mileage. They damn well better!!!
From BAD to BLOODY WORSE!!!!

bad luck there mate, but i personally wouldnt trust the garage you bought the engine from to carry out any work, sounds like theyed just bodge something up to fob you off.couldnt you get your guy to do it then bill them.thats the problem with 2nd hand or recon engines ,you cant prove how high the mileage or what work had been done to it.
