Can anybody help?

A new colleague at my work has an E30 M3. I've made him aware of the Zone, but he's yet to join......

Anyway, we were chating insurance the other day and he was complaining how his company 'Elefant.co.uk' has put up his renewal. He's looking at other companies, but is warry of the clauses regarding UK cars vs. imports.

Although his M3 was orignally registered in Germany, it came over to the UK in 2003 and is now on British plates, where does he stand in getting round this insurance clause? and can anybody out there recommend any insurance companies for that happily insure an E30 M3? Any guidance on potential premium would also be helpful....hje's currently looking at £690 if he stays with Elephant....

Your friend is much better off going with Classic car insurers. Try Hagerty Insurance - I am insured with them on my 1990 e30 m3 for about £360. It on restricted mileage < 5000 and as a second car. I found them to be very reasonable. Another companies you could try is Heritage. Hope this helps.

Just out of curiosity, do you always have to have a second car with classic car insurance?, I do about 8000 per year, occasionally (like aonce a month) use the wife's car, would I be able to get classic insurance too?

With my classic car policy you must have a second car, you can have 3000, 5000 and i think 7000 miles per year limits, i chose the 3000 miles a year at the price of £337 think it was £520 if i chose the 5000 miles policy. the company is called AON do a search in UK Google.

Cheers guys.

I hear my colleague was pleasantly surprised by the premium's offered by Carole Nash, (between £250 and £300 - depending on if they classify the car as an import or not) - so I think he's opting to go with them.......

Thanks for your advice...
