E30 M3 stuff is the easiest, but not cheap as the bits are hard to find. E36 fronts can be used with E36 compact rear bits.
Theres loads of threads on the 5 stud conversion and all the info is on here. Do a quick search and that should bring up all you to know.

5 stud is totally pointless to just fit a set of m3 alloys, waste of time and money as its not cheap to do

jmc330i, can you elaboreate on the E36 fronts? or point me in the right direction?
i'm having naughty thoughts about a M3 arched 335i touring and i already have a set of phat 8J16 ET15 BBS's on my wifes E34 sport that i could swipe...E36 M3 brakes and harder suspension would also help my soft suspension problem!

I cant link direct to a search, just search for 'E36 5 stud', but click on 'Search for all terms'.
That brought up 60 odd threads and a quick wade through should bring up all you need to know.
Basically, any E36 front leg will work, but you need the E36 M3 EVO bottom arms and E30 M3 offset bushes to get the castor and or wheel position correct.
As Jhonno said, its not really worth time and money just to fit a set of wheels, as however its done it wont be cheap.

I thought that unless the lower arms are modified (bent) then the wheel sits about an inch closer to the rear of the arch (ie not central)
Does using the m3 evo lower arms and offset bushes sort this out?

Have never heard anyone bending the lower arms
But yes, thats why the M3 Evo arms are used as well as the offset bushes.

that sounds a bit more involved than just getting a decent suspension kit!
worth looking at for a racecar i reckon but mainly due to the wheel and brake upgrade options

Never known anyone to do it
Just think I read someone suggesting it - wouldnt like that myself
didnt know the evo arms were different to the m3 or regular e36 ones.
