How does a 325i motor compare to a 525i motor?

Both cars of the same year, how do the two motors compare?

There might be some differences (sump perhaps?), but they're essentially the same, so AFAIK one from a 525i would be perfect for what you need

I went and bought the 525 motor yesterday, and it does need a sump change over. Was just wondering on power etc. Apparently fits the e30 perfectly though, except for the sump.

As long as it's not from a 525e, it should be just the same...

have a look on the head near the plug leads

if its an e im pretty sure it will have 2.7 stamped in that area

if its an I then as above it will be exactly the same as ur 325i bar the different sump poss diff engine mounts but not sure??

& if it is an 'e', you'll just have to build a 2.7...
