There are various options in the zone shop, for a start.

If only they made a system for the M20 cars. I've asked them and they refused saying the car is too old.
BTB do a fantastic exhaust - costs the same as a 325iSE though.
Scorpion do one but it's not to everyone liking and gets louder every time you start the car.
I'm currently getting Blueflame to make some - well priced and good quality
Mongoose - LOUD LOUD and then some more LOUD after you force it on as it won't fit.
Sebring - nice, if they ever arrive. Average lead time - 3 months.
Larini - meant to be very good but it's £550 and takes 10 weeks ++ to make
Standard BMW system - probably the best all rounder.
None of the above exhaust system excpet the BTB will give any noticeable gain in performance.

Useful information from M5 pilot, What is it that makes the BTB system so much better?

by the way guys, staying with ze germans, remus are another one to consider, i am fitted with a stainless set up and it is perfect for me, a nice quiet burble and not in your face, or more importantly the police ears around town, nice and understated, but once you start hoofin some gasses through it it lets people know your comin with a gorgeous aggressive howl! if you wanna hear it i have a link buried somewhere.....
