Want to upgrade to a minter E36 radio/cassette but not sure if it will plug straight into the cabling when I remove my old stereo? Cheers!

All depends on what there is behind your current radio. If BOTH cars have original radios in, it should be plug and play as I don't think BMW have changed their plugs that much. Not many E30's will have the original plug in though and the back of a BMW set is specific to the BMW plug, so you might have some fun getting the appropriate plug.
You really need to check behind the set in your E30 to see what's there. You'll probably need the E36 plug that goes into the back of the stereo from the loom to fit it though as standard BMW sets don't accept ISO plugs unlike Sony, Alpine, Kenwood etc
