Hey, this is for the M40 guys mainly,

Out of interest can you get your rear wheels spinning in the dry? I want to know if my engine is underpowered for an M40! dark_sounds seemd to think it was fast, but shouldnt it be able to spin in the dry  . Maybe its because my rear tyres are new, clutch seems good also according to a few zoners who have driven it  . It just seems way to sluggish off the mark  .

Cant wait untill im a bit older and driving something more powerful

M40 should be able to 'spin' its wheel (no lsd  ) in the dry

It's a joke

As said though you should definitely be able to get some (short!) black trails down in the dry.

And what do you mean revving the thing everywhere mofo? I don't think I even went over 3.5k and that was properly warmed up too :o

i think the thread title is very misleading.

"M40" and "power" should not be in the same line/sentance/paragraph/page

When my M40 was in i was able to do a burnout with new tyre's like i did at Guildford meet but only with an open diff. I did look after my engine tho and it was rather quick! I can even still say that even after having the 2.5 in and that is'nt exactly slow either!

I've not found another M40 that could keep up with mine so your's is probably average geese, don't worry about it!

Zay- Maybe i will, but probably not! Too much hassle to get rid of the drum brakes etc! You going to put a proper engine in yours?

Ant- Dont bet on it, thinking of supercharging mine :P (joke)

Jon- Im running 15" BBS now, used to be 17's like you. They were s*it!!

Tyres are 'dunlop', unbranded, but made by dunlop.

Both my old 316i and my 318i used to be able to spin the wheels and burnout....although if you wanna keeep your clutch id recommend not to do this.lol.

They were also way more tail happy than my IS! Thinks its got to do with the IS having anti roll bars and that....

with the help of a little weight transfer.

its deffo fun in the wet too

I think its gonna be a lot easier

Thanks for the comments, and not to many piss takes :) .

Nope, i can only get the odd 'judder' from the wheels spinning, and i dont hold back on my right foot enough anyway, maybe my engine is a bit focked, its slower than 1.8 cabs, but still seems fast enough :) . Runs very well. Maybe i will nick Malcs at the next Ace

Theo, that white car sounded fun, untill you flipped it! Still came in handy for me!

Be harsh with the clutch. Don't even let it out as quickly as you can, actually sidestep it so it springs back up, while you have the revs bouncing off the redline! That should do the trick. Drivetrain won't like it though :?

Yer sure Ali, how about now!?! Im not in school because its an RE day, with no Re going on? So i sneaked out quietly and loudly drove off home :D .
lol, you wont be able to spin them, but if i can have a go in yours with those shot rear tyres :D :P , your welcome to try.

hi, i've got a 318i 2 door manual and i've done massive wheelspins in mine in the dry with good tires, although it's not exactly difficult considering how short ratio 1st gear is....
