There's a new Drift Academy starting up which I'm sure some of you have heard of.
Here're the important bits of their latest email newsletter. I'm not affiliated but thought some people here would be intersted. Contact john@driftacademy.co.uk or see the website for more info (last time I checked the website was very sparse but they may have updated it, no time to check atm)
The search for an lsd hath resumed

DRIFT ACADEMY NEWSLETTER 4
COURSE DATES & VENUES ANNOUNCED
Here's what everyone's been asking for!
The first four Drift Academy days which are being held at three different venues around the UK.
We will be strictly limiting the number of places on these first few events to ensure that you get maximum practise time.
The courses are designed to teach you the basics of drifting. You'll be able to use your own car or, at additional cost, drive our drift cars.
Lunch is included in the price and for this reason we request that you do not bring spectators or partners to these days.
General practise days will be announced very soon and these will often allow spectators.
To ensure we do not upset the neighbours, there will be a 98dB exhaust noise limit at all our venues. We will be testing the cars at the beginning of each day. If you fail the noise test, you will not be able to use your car. If you have not had your car noise-tested before, we advise you to do so if you are in any doubt.
Generally speaking, loud big-bore road/track systems can be marginal and should be tested before you book your place as no refunds can be given if you are over the limit on the day.
VENUES
Our first three venues (more coming soon) are;
Kemble Airfield - Cirencester, Gloucestershire. MAP HERE
Donington Park - Castle Donington, Derby MAP HERE
Rushmoor Arena - Aldershot, Hampshire MAP HERE
We are taking bookings for between 5 and 12 drivers at each venue, so you will be taught individually and in very small groups.
Every venue is carefully chosen to ensure that the surface is not overly abrasive and harsh on tyres. At some venues we will water the course to help novices get used to breaking traction.
We only use wide open areas with nothing to hit apart from the odd stray cone. Cones will not cause any significant damage if hit, but if you are really worried about your car, you can always book an optional School Car place and drive the Drift Academy cars!
We will only teach drifting in rear wheel drive cars fitted with a limited slip differential (LSD). Front wheel drive and four wheel drive cars are not suitable. Some 4WD cars can be switched into rear wheel drive mode and they may be OK, but please check with us if you are uncertain.

only do this if u fancy replacing bits on ure car a lot more regularly lol
im partial to drifting everywhere- but it really does take its toll on the car, so much so that i feel really bad after a session in my sport-- im thinkin of getting a cheap 325 at the moment for this sole purpose
the drift uk events are only Ԛ£50 and u get loadsa time on an airfield-ithink this may be better for beginners

hahaha I've not had LSD since I was 14!!!
On a more serious note, anyone have any ideas what I should pay for a LSD for my 320i cab?
I have no idea what I should look for in one so looking to learn lotsa about them. What will it do for my car?

lsd basically sends power to the outside wheel also via clutch packs internally.. as opposed to a normal open diff that will just spin up the inside wheel as it unloads.... car becomes very contrallable in a slide and traction of the line is pretty much doubled as u r now laying the power down between 2 wheels
the lsd's u can use on ure car without affecting the ratio/gearing too much are the sport 3.91 lsd(rare) or the small case 4.1 lsd(very fcuking rare)
expect to pay between Ԛ£200-250, but they are sooooooo sooooooo worth it particulary in the wet--ure car will just sit down and go minus any wheelspin!! they should have been stock on every e30 i think
