Currently have this old turd sitting outside the house, that I collected on Saturday
Image

Here is the reason why though, 5L V12
Image
It cost the grand sum of £50 for the car, it has done 127k and runs very sweetly (thank goodness )

Am picking up the E30 it is going into this Saturday so no excuses not to start lol.

This will be a very slow project (not like Glenn lol) due to missus/kids/doing up the house blah blah.... you all know how it is. I will update it from time to time if of interest to anyone.

Glenn has very kindly offered his help when I get stuck (which probably won't take long  )

Thanks also to Ian332isport who is kindly letting me have some wiring diagrams, I'm gonna need them lol.

Rich.

NIce mate, get stuck in there!
Rome wasn't built in a day!

Will be interesting to see a standard / budget / time economic V12 conversion take shape! Lots of photos and a build thread when you get started please mate.

Are they bog standard autos, or more like the switchable E30 one? Slightly more sophisticated?

Widge, the 7 has a shedload of electronics on it, the Auto is switchable.

It also uses electronic throttle control, the ability to switch between shock absorber settings, etc etc 8O should be fun trying to figure it all out

Complete with 'tasteful' pinstripes, 4x4 ride height and a 4 spoke steering wheel :chuckle:

This is the last time it will look like this
Image
Managed to get a bit done on it today, the engine and box should be out tomorrow evening if I can avoid the Kitchen tiling the missus wants doing 8)

That's got the little 6 pot out  just need to remove the brake master cylinder and servo, crossmember, steering rack and ARB. Then it's time to rob the 750 of it's best feature winkeye

if your sticking with the auto then my advice is to get the torque converter sent off and get the stall speed raised on it, wont cost much, had mine done for about £200

A quick update, progressing ok on both the cars. The V12 and gearbox will be out this coming week, the E30 is pretty much stripped out ready for cutting/bashing about to get the engine in :teehee:

it's not that bad, so far i've seen 6 things in that picture that i recognise
1) floorpan
2) auto gearlever
3) throttle pedal
4) brake pedal
5) a loadspeaker
6) wire, lots of it! :D

our work here is done! :D

seriously though, is that all engine raleated or is the main car loom in there too?

Gareth, that lot is mainly the loom inside the car with some fuel pump wiring etc.. Thankfully a lot of it won't be needed but as I usually manage to throw away the bits I later need lol, I'm taking it all out now. The ECU's and engine loom are still in the engine bay at the mo.

 exactly what I thought.

Good luck with your conversion, it looks 'slightly' more involved than mine, you are one brave/crazy man and I take my hat off to you. Have you done engine conversions before by any chance??

I'd love to see the peoples faces when they try and race you away from the lights

wasn't it once said that the E32 had more computing power than what took the apollo missions to the moon?

incidentally, the post made about getting the torque converter sorted...

try www.jpat.co.uk

although I have no idea what the stall speed would be taken to, i would assume that FZ box would have a stall speed of around 1800-2000rpm? I see the supra auto boys with stall speeds nearer the 3K mark and i think the stall on my soarer V8 is near that too.
