I've just got a brand spanking new hood through the post this morning, really egar to get it fitted. I've had a look at the hood thats currentley on the cab, and the underside of the new hood and it looks a case for like for like fitting. However, i'm sure this is in no way a straight forward swap and there is a real "nack" to it.
Does anyone have any tips for DIY fitting or is this really a professional job? Those that may have seen a hood be reaplced by a professional might have a say in this

as far as i know, the E30 hood setup is the same/similar to the succeeding 3 series convertibles...
basically, the hood is attached to a metal frame which is bolted to the rear cross member of the body. the points at which this frame is attached to the body is located underneath the hood stowage compartment, near the rear windows. i think this is held down by 4 or 6 bolts. after undoing these bolts, you should be able to just lift the ensemble out, and strip the old hood off of it and put the new one on, however, i cannot help you here, as i do not know how the hood is attached to the framework???
hope this helps. if you need anymore help, gimme a shout, and i'll go round Cliffy's house and have a look at his convertible and let you know a bit more...
