Ahh finished for the day
Good mini updates Malc.
Manifold finished, ground back, leak tested and wrapped, now resplendant in the engine bay, you can even get the plugs out, bonus
Downpipe is finished up to the gearbox, needs a small 6 inch section added to mate with the section I made to replace the cat, also wrapped in Thermo tec as its quite close to the steering and firewall ( as always )
Oil feed and return pipes are next on the to-do list, then its wire the MS in, test and double check everyything and we're go for launch.
Been a very productive day, quite happy with progress tbh, especially after the flanges delayed me a week.
Total hours invested so far....... 21

Up and running yet?
I wish we had made a vid diary of the first conversion on mine, it was a "out of body" experiance, Was like being locked in a time warp, drove in N/a Sat AM, drove home Sun PM turbo'd! Ant and I were one with the car, elements, cups of tea and the welder! Wonders were performed at each stage. Never onece did we doubt, although MS was a PITA to start with. And I won't mention the house PC on the road wired to the car at 11o'clock at night in the dark!
Malc witnessed this when he was with us for stage 2 and he knows what I mean, I think he described it as "no stress workaholics" or something. I loved every minute, even blowing it up
I'd do it all again for sure, what a good few weekends I've had sticking turbo's on e30's!
Malc, I wish I was there matey, you just wait, you'll love it!

I've stopped for a cuppa
Downpipe is finished, centre is finished, manifolding is finished and bolted up.
Just clocked the turbo core and refitted the wastgate and compressor housing, its not coming apart again
Had to massage the inner wing slightly but thats hidden with some thermal barrier matting so no worries there, looks kinda bling actually.
Sump is coming off in a minute for the oil return fitting, the feed will be made up tomorrow by my local aeroquip guru
that will represent the mechanical parts completed
MS to wire in , and one charge pipe to be made up.
then the fun really starts
for the low boost level we're running no intercooler as its counterproductive, and the autobox is a possible weakaness, suck it and see time methinks.
Charge temps @ 6.5 psi will be little above ambient and the MS has IAT and CLT related trims embedded in the code to cover any heat soak issues
BTW, my back hurts
Cheers Dazzle !!
