I love the rear lights, in my opinion they are the best type, leave them as they are :) . All your other mods sound good also, should look smart, not off at all.

Show us more pics if you do the black grill and front lights :)

Colour coded roof is the way forward also in my opinion 8)

some flags and chrome arches will look awesome.

but seriously it looks good as it is mate, not keen on the lights but not keen on the originals either so better of 2 evils for me really otherwise looks spot on
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

What do you mean Andrew?

All I'm saying is that although black grilles + smoked lights look very good (I have both here but still unsure whether to put them on), if Gazza is trying to keep a decent amount of "originalily" then I reckon black grilles would be going too far, as they take away the whole identity of the car.

The thread title asks for opinions, and that's mine.

Not normally a fan (see earlier anorak comment), but the lights on the Lachs touring above look great. Cold eye of a shark. Or Salmon, considering the car's colour.

I'll give you a fiver for the whole thing, honestly, weighing-in's too good for it.

Lose the hood, lights, body, interior, sell the engine on Ebay (some idiot will bid) and get a scruffy MkII golf GTi. Giles has one, I think.

There, I hope that's redessed the balance a little, Gareth.

Looks great to me! As has been said, it's all easily reversible, and it's your car, nothing wrong with making it look that bit different.

Don't like the black stripe though :td:

As i've said before , Why the Fcuk do you guys want those german plates , !!! Leave em for the younger more irresponsible VW boys that said i dont know why you seek the approval of the zone for your mods, it's your car, looks very nice to me & others & obviously you, so enjoy what you have created & others to bemoan :D

Parksie,

I dont seek anyones approval. This topic is in a 'chat area of the zone' and thats what Im attempting to do.

I was having the discussion this week about, standard vs mods and how far you go!.

Cheers Gareth.

Gareth take a chill pill my friend, for it is only my opinion

For example------ praise the lord for individuals such as Bootyman :D he does what he wants & don't give a FCUK what anyone else thinks, in fact takes great pride in making a statement and modifing in his way as only he knows how to do! :D

Gazza

As parksdie says FCUK what other people say do what you think is right as it's your car. Theres plenty of cars of cars on the zone that you, i or others personally not approve of on the mods side of things but like i said said each to their own & do what you think is best

Hello Guss,

Looks like a few of us like this smoked, and mods with taste that are reversible. John's m3, Simon's M3, Simon13 and even yourself Guss.

It seem's its the rears and the plates that most aren't sure about.

Its all about opinions!. :thumb:

I am going to far?.

Evo bonnet seals.
Smoked rear lights.
E46 tail pipe trims.
German plate's.
Smoked repeaters

Wanted smoked fronts.
Black grille.
Colour coded hardtop.
Gazza - your car looks good. Modifications are a very personal choice and I think yours are a very good choice (similar to mine :D )

It's nothing too lairy and I think your approach and choice of mods. makes a difference but not the in-your-face kinda difference.

I have a 325i Cab and have Evo bonnet seals (not yet fited), MHW Smoked Rears on order, Magnex S/S Exhaust, German Plates and Smoked Repeaters and Indicators on order. MTEC I kit to go on very soon with colour coded door handles and mirrors. I'd love some smoked Hellas, but I am not as fussed about a Colour-coded Hardtop - factory colours are good enough for me.

For my car, I definitely don't want a black grille as I am keeping all my chrome wrongness!

Look forward to seeing further pics of the car once you've got it looking how you want it.

Gazza

Some of the things are not my cup of tea BUT its your car and you are not doing anything permanent to it!

Something i have found out about the zone, cars NEVER look as good on a website as they do in real life! So i suspect the rear lights maybe do look good!

Some interesting opinions.

I have a set of rare 16'' Alpina rep's (3 No at the moment- Alec pull your finger out) (Yeah, I Gave Giles A free car!).

I want to get the original motorsort BBS refurbed. I might stick the Pina's on for a while.

Started tinkering inside yesterday, chrome bits in the engine bay to match the strut brace , tweeters in the door mirrors, new fuel sender unit in the tank and tried a black all in one gearknob-gator. The original grey one needs reconnolising. But the black one looks a good contrast against the grey Msport leather.

Well there's where you're wrong, actually. I don't have a good side.

:P

I'd be using that wheel now, but it won't hold pressure! Will get it fixed next weekend...

Hmmmm...

I love the rear lights. Smoked fronts would look really nice, though keep the chrome grille.

Colour-coded hard-top would look great also.

Just need bigger wheels... a 5 stud conversion coming on to get some bling 17" BBS's fitted...? Now that would look nice. Maybe that's one step too far as although it's reversible, it'd be a right pain to do so.

17" Alpina reps instead...? (just kidding)

nowt wrong with the car, the rear lights are fine, they still keep in with the original design, maybe bigger wheels? The usual boring tried and tested Alpina would go well, less you get some nice deep dish bbs's on there! They'd look tasty on there. Keep it up.

Sort of off topic, but why do people want german plates on their car, i think the english ones look better!

Not Giles, but gotta comment... gorgeous!

I haven't read the whole thread... 3 pages, r u joking?
However modifying is about expressing yourself, it's art (without all the pompous sh*t). Go ahead and do your thing, it's your car, your time, your money... if it doesn't float someone else's boat who gives a toss, so long as you like her.

People should appreciate the thought and effort, not put down others taste, after all wouldn't this world be hell if we all liked the same thing. This is one of the reasons I prefer The Zone to other BMW forums / clubs, greater diversity and appreciation of our common interest. :soap: Enough of that, I'm beginning to sound like Jezza C on "Grumpy old men"!!! 8O
