Well, she's a runner again... Run's beautifully!! (So I am back down to number 2 in Mark's life!) so now should I sell her :?

Sent Ryan off to nursery, mark took most of the day off work and we set to work trying to figure out where everything went! We've had her parked outside the house since january, and Mark dismantled the external engine about 2-3 months ago but then got annoyed at her for running lumpy and not knowing what it was so she's had a mini overhaul.

Engine was reconditioned 2 years ago, so didnt need to take the head off.

She's had new waterpump, viscous fan. thermostat, thermostat housing, blue switch, red switch, dizzy cap, rotor arm, plugs, oil and air filters, bought front and rear pads and handbrake cables, but doesnt look like she needs them after all. and it all cost less than £300 (mostly genuine BMW parts too!) Spent another £500 or so on other bits and bobs though!

second hand original rear clusters, second hand door soon, second hand driver's seat (in v.good condition) very nearly new rear exhaust (bmw sticker still clean!), second hand front exhaust section.

got a box with spare front and spare smoked rear lights, spare Idle control valve, fuel pressure regulator, spare HT leads, Air flow meter, also some 14" BBS (SET OF 5) and shed loads of other bits and bobs that I had bought to eliminate parts out of what could be wrong

Seems a shame to sell her after all we've done to her but every time we put her up for sale all we get is "I can buy one from a dealer for £500", "I can buy one off eBay for £200"

car owes us probably £1500 by now but do you think it is even worth £950? its a 1990 320i touring in Diamond Black. 1631k, engine recon about 151k

Agreed - £950 for a private sale seems more than fair. As long as that's a typo and not really 1.63 million miles!

I now want to watch 'Weird Science' again, btw :)

Eighties John Hughes brat-pack film where two teenagers create an ideal woman & she gets them girls & Ferraris/Porsches etc. the Frankenstein line reminded me of it!

Harmless high-concept fun :)

Door's here when you want it. Don't worry.

weird science. class film.(can hear the tune in my head also).

dobbie.

pending that your touring, has fair/good history, no mechanical/electrical issues, and the bodywork is very good then you can push to that figure.

going by the picture of it i dont think you will. the wheels and lights are a no no.

Well the lights have been replaced with originals, the wheels been replaced with 14" BBS.

Its got partial history, for all non-engine things, the history went with the old engine when it was swapped for a reconditioned one. Got receipts for all parts since though, mark services himself.

remarkably rust free apart from the passenger door so i'm changing that. the only thing i dont like now is the naff motorspot badge on the tailgate and the m-tech gearknob (very worn!)

The day of judgement has arrived...

She is off to the garage to get the work checked over and if its up to scratch she's getting an MOT... fingers crossed!

this is the first time she's been on the road in about 4/5 months

I am very tempted to keep them both! But there is a 30min waiting restriction on the road and a permit is £300 a year for the nearest car park.

(p.s as u can see she has normal lights and BBS now)
