What's a mint 48k E30 318iS worth? On the look out for an excellent or show condition example but the values seem to be all over the place just now. Cheers.

It depends if the seller knows what they are selling!

Assuming the car is genuine, with good paint / mechanics and a good spec then i guess £3.5 tops, probably nearer £3k

You can get them for £600 on eBay! i believe the rust normally comes free with them

Colour may have a deciding factor (This 48k car, is it Red by any chance? and come from the somerset area??? if so i remember it! it was a good car when i last saw it a few years ago...)

You see loads for sale circa £1k, but i would never class them as near show condition.

I think Mark is right with the value of yours, try bmw owners club magazine etc etc rather than ebay!

There wasa mint-looking one on Autotrader a few months ago (Although 89,000 miles) for £895. 1 owner from new, full history. Selling due to bereavement. Once more, seller not knowing what they are selling. I couldn;t afford it at the time. Damnitt, I STILL can't afford it even if it was still for sale!

it all depends on the spec and how tidy the car is,

i'd hate to put a value on mine , its got a few mods but nothing to take away the originality of the car imo

for a good one, i recon £1250-£1500. i know of a couple that have been bought for sub £1000 and one is giving the owner reall probs at the mo and an other the body needs attention and painting

£1750 to £2000 buys a very clean below average miles one with a good spec, leathers, abs. lsd

with e-bay you never know what you get, i bought mine fairy cheap however it was NOT as clean as it is today, i spent a lot of time getting it up to the standard it is now. i saw potential with it so i when for it, plus owner needed the cash so i did get a deal.

here is a picture of mine

Mine is far from mint!
Jobs I need to do include: (prices are guestimet parts alone...)

Timing chain etc £300
Suspension overhall £250
Bit of work on one of the rear arches (dented rather than rusted)

But then you could by a far more expensive one and have to do all this work!

It was sold with a dodgy power staering rack, but I was just a £20 pipe from the dealers and some fluid!

I paid £950 for mine a couple of years ago and when i bought it, it needed a rear wheel bearing change but as far as i could tell that was it. Now however, knowing a bit more about e30s and having had the car a couple of years, it needs new shocks up front, one of the rear springs was replaced previously for a non m-tech one (ie about 15mm too long). It's had a poor respray on the bonnet, wings, drivers door which now needs attention, a couple of rust spots, and the rhs front bumper mount was damaged in a crash and was welded back up slightly too high so the bumper is slightly twisted.

All in all, she requires quite a bit of work to get back upto scratch, and i'm sure there are better examples to be found for around the £1000 mark...

I bought mien for 800 in november, has masses off history, 96k, which if you look at it in terms of cars is still low for 16 years, and ran pretty well. only problem was it needed a new bonent and two new rings as some fecker had keyed it the whole way across.

iv sinced replaced the bonnet and tidied it up and the only problems iv had are the recent running issues (still havent figured them out)

i think at the end of the day it depends where you buy it and also depends if the seller knows what they have got
