My neighbour has a 318i that keeps bleeping, not the full siren but just a bleep and the key will not disable the alarm/operate the central locking or unlock the drivers door because the lock is broken. (feels like the mechanism is disconnected)
There on the verge of breaking the window to get the bonnet up and dissconnect the battery, Does any one know whats wrong or an aesier way in ?
Cheers

The only lock is the drivers door and thats either broken or it dissconnects when the alarm is armed, but i don't think thats how it works
i assume it would still work for when the battery is dead so you can get in.
Anyone know why the alarm is bleeping to start with ? it may help track down the problem.

the DWA system in the early E46 is a PITA, needs a full diagnostic test and will probaly at some point need a new CCM ( car control module) done quite a few of these on 01 and older now.
get it tested and reset, it may sort itself out
