Got My HID Xenon headlights done today, full report, picture
Moderator: martauto
all my lighting dreams have come true, they are the biggest dogs nuts, wow bloody wow, can you tell iam excited
and the auto elecs only charged Ԛ£35 to fit them, i went for a 8000K kit, the real bling bling blue look, the K reflects on the colour that you get, if you want a light thats ultra white and lights up the road like flood lights then you want to get say a 4000k - 4500K system, but if you want a real blue bling look at the cost of not quite lighting up the road like flood lights then you want a 6000K - 8000K, you can even go more than 8000K, 9000K + and that will give you more of a purple look, I got my kit from www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk ive given these a mention for there excellent service, when i first called them i was going to buy the Ԛ£430 kit they had on there site, but the guy told me about the kit i got in the end as these had just been finished being tested and were not up on there site yet, and now they have put the kit on all there demo cars they were that impressed with it and it only cost Ԛ£299, The kit that i got was, H1 Interpower HID X5 8000k sky blue, ive put a picture to try and show you, but its so hard to take pictures of lighted objects so the picture dosnt really do it to much justice, but they really are the nuts

Nice one.
The blue hint compliments the car too. I too would be well chuffed.
And its all about paying someone Ԛ£35 to do it rather than stressing out over doing it yourself!

cheers lads, adam3,
spot on mate, iam glad you said that, the car colour and light colour just blend so well to give it that extra bling look, iam well chuffed cheersThe blue hint compliments the car too. I too would be well chuffed.
i already get that look all the time with my angel eyes, but i know what your saying, even on the new beemers and mercs its hard not to stare at them, let alone on an old beemer, should put the posh nobs out, its a thing of beauty
i think this will be the next BIG mod for everyones E30`s, its so easy now as they do a H1 that just fits as if its ment to be there
Hi Jhonno, soryy got the web address wrong its www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/HID/hid_H1.htm
Looks excellent fella, just wanted to know , can this kit be used in combination with say a set of smoke hellas, or maybe a set of chrome/crystal clear angel eyes like the ones on Bootymans Reiger, i noticed that u still have your angel eyes, so i presume this kit just fits in with your exsisting lenses?

Do some down the road night shots, this should show the colour better.

Just a thought, but don't xenon headlights legally require to be self leveling, and need headlamp washers?
adaM3 is spot on with the self level thing for when they go over speed ramps ect, but when it come to your mot all you have to do is put your old bulbs in and a 5 sec bit of wiring, dont know about the headlamp washers, took mine of the sport for wieght and areodynamics
or was it because they wernt working, o yes that was it

The sensors take an average of the tilt in the car so going over speed bumps will not activate the system in a car which has this fitted. Its only when the car is loaded with passegers or going up hill.dale325i wrote:adaM3 is spot on with the self level thing for when they go over speed ramps ect, but when it come to your mot all you have to do is put your old bulbs in and a 5 sec bit of wiring, dont know about the headlamp washers, took mine of the sport for wieght and areodynamicsor was it because they wernt working, o yes that was it

Are these bi-xenon like the latest cars have. The bi-xenon is where there is a motorised flap inside the light that gives you dipped and main beam off the same bulb.
If not, does anyone know if there are bi-xenon kits available, or if it is possible to modify a setup from a modern car into an e30 light?

No its alot of work and plus the wiring would be complicated. Its not really worth it.325iSportMark wrote:Are these bi-xenon like the latest cars have. The bi-xenon is where there is a motorised flap inside the light that gives you dipped and main beam off the same bulb.

Because Main beam and low beam use H1 you can use them of either, but the bulb on the main beam wont last long as they dont like to be switched on or off three times per hour. This is where Bi-xenon comes in.

as long as you ain't in germany or they don't have the same rules
i believe german e30's have a situation where if ypou switch on your main beams whilst your fogs and low beams are on, your fogs go off. basically a rule where you can only have 4 lights lit up on the front of your car...

your xenons are only for your main beam, not your high beam or side lights. once you have your xenons on i cant see how you would even need your high beam as your main beam is so bright, but ive ordered some ultra high beam lights that give out the same colour as the xenons so i dont have a horible yellow light
but you could order another set of xenons, too, eh dale
that would be good
